Thursday Chaingang

Small print first: This is not an official club activity.  It is open to anyone, and is just a training session with a group of like-minded folk.  All riders take part at their own risk, and we recommend you have your own insurance (e.g. through an appropriate British Cycling membership).  Rules of the road must be followed.

I am planning to go riding every Thursday night starting 4 May.  Meet at 7pm at the mound.  Please park at the mound car park (by the sluice gates).

We will ride 20 miles (10 miles towards Lairg and then back the same way) in small groups.

Please watch this excellent video which explains groups riding and “chaingangs”:

There will be a practice session at the Kart Track on Wednesday 26 April.  I recommend anyone thinking of coming to the changing sessions to come along.  It is a really useful technique to learn and practice.

Groups will be decided on the night and with people of similar ability grouped together.  Slower groups will go off first, and fast groups off later.  Everyone is welcome.

It is not a race and the aim is to ride at a strong pace but keeping together in the group.

It is a really good training session - and it is nice to have some company!

Ian
