East Sutherland Wheelers Touring Ride Programme April to July 2013

Full ride details will be posted on the touring section of the forum one week before the ride. Please check the forum before coming on the ride as route and details may change.

13th April 13 - Ride Leader Amanda Wagstaffe. Ride Details - Meet at 9.30am at Doll Hall.
Beginners ride. Doll Hall-over ford to Clynelish, back around by the river over the ford and back to the hall. Approx distance 8-9 miles.

28th April 13 - Ride Leader James Plowman. Ride Details - Meet at 10 am, Golspie, Fountain Road car park (outside Coffee Bothy). From Golspie we will head up Dunrobin Glen then down Strath Brora to Brora and back to Golspie via the A9, a few hills, approx 30 miles - Good general level of fitness.

4th May 13 - Ride Leader Amanda Wagstaffe. Ride Details - Meet at 9.30 am at the car park over Bonar Bridge on the left hand side where the toilets are. Beginners ride Bonar Bridge to Shin Falls. Approx distance 12 miles. Steady climb to Shin Falls and downhill all the way back. We can stop for coffee.

1st June 13 - Ride Leader James Plowman. Ride Details - Meet at 10 am, Altnaharra, the parking area just before the Strath Naver and Strath More junction. Altnaharra to Tongue on the A836, Tongue to Hope on the A838, Hope to Altnaharra along the Loch Hope road, some hills, approx distance 55 miles. Hardish route, Good level of fitness required

9th June 13 - Ride Leader Keith Jones. Ride Details - Meet 10am, Golspie, Fountain Road car park (outside Coffee Bothy). From Golspie up Dunrobin Glen road (stiff up hill to start) to the Langwell crossroads, (approx 8 miles). Turn left to Rogart (approx 3 miles mostly down hill). Then turn right on the Lairg road as far as Little Rogart turning. Turn off at the manse and up the very steep hill towards Melness, carry on uphill through East and West Langwell and back to the crossroads. From there back down the Glen (mostly downhill) and back to the car park.

Not a long ride, about 25 miles but a couple of very testing hills. This route keeps us off nearly all the main roads except the couple of miles between Rogart and Little Rogart turning (2 miles). Hardish route, Good level of fitness required

22nd June 13 - Ride Leader Amanda Wagstaffe. Ride Details - Meet at 9.30am Outside the Jail shop in Dornoch. Beginners ride Dornoch-Skelbo-Badminish-Brirchen-Dornoch. Approx distance 12 miles. A mixture of climbing and descending. Hills not too steep some long, but we will be going at a slower pace.

13th July 13 - Ride Leader Fiona Paton. Ride Details - Meet at 9.30 am, Golspie, Fountain Road car park (outside Coffee Bothy). Golspie to Bonar Bridge, over the Struie, and back to Golspie by Dornoch. Some hills, approx distance 65 miles. Hardish route, Good level of fitness required.

20th July 13 - Ride Leader Amanda Wagstaffe. Ride Details - Meet at 9.30 am, over Bonar Bridge on left hand side car park where the toilets are. Beginners Ride Bonar Bridge-Spinnindale, Up through the Fairy Glen , Kyloag towards Migdale back down to Bonar Bridge. Approx distance 11 miles.
