Our Scott Contessa Ladies sessions get off to a shining start!

It wasn’t just the sun that was shining this Sunday morning on the Little Ferry Go Kart track.  Also out in full force was our local female cycling talent - eat your heart out Laura Trott! Around 25 ladies from across the county gathered at the Little Ferry Go Kart Track for the first of a series of women’s road cycle coaching sessions held by Level 2 Cycle Coaches, Mel MacRae and Amanda Wagstaffe as part of the Scott Contessa RRA.

We had a good warm up off the bike doing the ‘grapevine’ and introduced the ladies to the delights of ‘domes and dishes’! We then split into two groups and participants learnt how to check their bike for safety before a session on balance & coordination techniques! There was lots of laughter throughout and a few wobbles as the participants practiced mastering some tricky techniques including the stationary balance and the slow race where it’s not the first but the last person over the line who wins the race!

Mel commented “The idea for this programme of support for women who want to get into racing, time trials and other group riding was created by Scottish Cycling with the support of Scott Bikes and we are very lucky to be one of the 6 areas across Scotland to be involved.   This Sunday was great fun and we are really looking forward to the next 5!  We would like to extend big thanks to the team at the Goslpie Kart Track for sharing their excellent venue“
