Youth Mini Downhill Race

At this year’s UCI World Cup in Fort William young riders will be able to enter the Youth Mini Downhill Race! The race will take place on Saturday 4th June.  Scottish Cycling believe this is a fantastic opportunity for young riders to put their downhill MTB skills to the test against the clock in front of an international audience.

Riders will have two timed runs on the course with the best/fastest time being used to decide who the winner is. All riders will follow the same course, with results for Boys and Girls in each of the 4 age categories below.

*The age category riders race in will be based on the riders age on the 1st January 2011

What do you need to enter?

  • The event is open to riders aged 8-16years old*
  • Riders must be able to ride blue/red graded trails
  • Must have/have access to a  mountain bike that is suitable for racing on, it doesn’t need to be a fancy Downhill bike but must have brakes that work and be suitable for riding off road.
  • A full face helmet and full finger gloves are compulsory.
  • body armour is strongly recommended

What is the course like?

The course is mostly single track using parts of the red World Champs Cross Country circuit. Although the course does not contain any mandatory jumps or drop off riders should be able to ride blue/easy red trails with confidence.
